John Brennan is a senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh where he teaches environmental design and researches primarily into the relationship between rural design and sustainability. Julie Wilson has taught design at the University of Dundee and has researched water conservation in relation to housing design.

We think think the link between practice, education and research is important. It keeps us abreast of latest thinking and allows us to put into practice what would just stay as theory!

John has written and researched on the relationship between landscape and rural design and has been published in ARQ. He is especially interested as to how housing design is changing because of changes in work patterns.

The office has worked on hybrid prefabrication techniques on live work projects. This involves a tow stage construction process allowing finishing and services to be undertaken locally or with an element of self-build.

Sustainable design is at the heart of the practice's ethos. We have researched case studies on behalf of the Lighthouse and innovate through design competitions such as the Highland Housing Fair.
